20 January 2027

Regulation (EU) 2023/1230 replaces Directive 2006/42/EC. The technical file is still required, with new references and new topics: safety-related software, cybersecurity and digital instructions.

What changes

Six people write a technical file over three years. Nobody reads it end to end.

The design changes. A motor gets bigger, a schematic goes to Rev. E, a safety relay is replaced. The manual still points to Rev. C and the declaration still lists the old model. Nobody notices until someone outside the company asks for the file.

  • Revision mismatch

The manual refers to a drawing revision that is no longer in the folder.

  • Missing document

The risk assessment or the standards list is somewhere, but not in the file.

  • Contradicting values

Voltage, weight or noise level differ between the datasheet and the manual.

  • Wrong declaration

The declaration cites the wrong legislation, the wrong model or the wrong signatory.

The file always gets read at the worst possible moment

Most technical files are only opened when someone outside the company asks for them.

  • A customer asks for it

Your buyer in Germany wants the technical file before acceptance. You have days, not weeks.

  • An authority asks for it

Market surveillance can request the file for 10 years after the machine is placed on the market.

  • A new machine ships

The file has to be complete before the declaration is signed and the CE marking goes on.

  • After a revision

Every design change can leave old references behind in documents nobody touched.

Four steps from folder to report

From the machine details to a report in which every finding links to its page.

  1. 1

    Describe the machine

Name, model, complete or partly completed, Annex I or not, placing on the market date, target countries and options.

  2. 2

    Upload the folder

PDF, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and images, as a folder or ZIP. You see the page count and the cost before anything starts.

  3. 3

    Get the report

Follow the progress live; you get an email when it is ready. HTML, PDF and JSON, every finding linked to its page.

  4. 4

    Fix and re-check

Mark findings as correct, false alarm or fixed. Re-check within 90 days and see what changed.

Findings you can act on, not a score

No readiness percentage. Just counts, documents, pages and quotes, grouped by what to fix.

  1. High

    Declaration cites the old Directive

    EU-DoC_MX-500.pdf · p. 1
“…complies with all relevant provisions of Directive 2006/42/EC…”

Placing on the market planned for 03/2027: Regulation (EU) 2023/1230 is expected.

  2. Medium

Manual refers to an old schematic revision

    Operating-manual_EN.pdf · p. 14
    “…see wiring diagram E-500-01 Rev. C…”

The folder contains E-500-01 Rev. E.

  3. Info

    Motor power differs between documents

    Datasheet.pdf · p. 2 / E-500-01.pdf · p. 3
    “5.5 kW ↔ 7.5 kW”

Possible variant difference: listed in your options.

Every quote is verified

If a quote cannot be found word for word on the cited page, the finding is dropped from the report. The AI reads and explains; the rules that decide what is a finding are written in code.

Eight checks on every file

Every review runs the same checks against Annex IV and the documents in your folder.

  • Document index

Type, title, number, revision, date, language and page count of every document.

  • Missing documents

Checked against Annex IV Part A for complete and Part B for partly completed machinery.

  • Revisions and references

Documents that cite an old revision, or a document that is not in the folder.

  • Value table

Model, power, voltage, frequency, weight, pressure and noise across all documents, conflicts marked.

  • Declaration

Right legislation for the date, signatory, required fields, model and notified body for Annex I machinery.

  • Instructions

Manuals in the languages of your target countries, consistent with the declaration.

  • Standards

Every standard cited, with a note where the EN version should be checked.

  • Supplier documents

Safety component certificates matched by model and checked for expiry dates.

Same file, two ways to check it

What changes when every page is checked, not only the ones someone had time for.

Checking by hand: Someone opens 40 PDFs one by one, if there is time.

With Dossure: Every page of every document is read, including scanned ones.

Checking by hand: Revision references are checked from memory.

With Dossure: Every reference is matched against the documents in the folder.

Checking by hand: Values are compared when someone happens to notice.

With Dossure: Power, voltage, weight, pressure and noise are compared side by side.

Checking by hand: Findings live in someone's head or an email.

With Dossure: Every finding has the document, page and quote. Click the quote to open the page.

Checking by hand: After a change, the whole check starts again.

With Dossure: Re-check within 90 days: only new and changed files are read.

Built for the people who sign off the file

Anyone who has to stand behind a technical file before it leaves the company.

  • CE and documentation managers

Check a file before it leaves the building, and again after every revision.

  • Quality engineers

Get a list of what to fix instead of a stack of PDFs to read.

  • Consultants

Review client files faster. Pro reports carry your name and logo.

  • Exporters to the EU

Turkish manufacturers selling to Germany, Italy or the Netherlands: same file, same check.

A pre-check, not a verdict

Dossure tells you what is missing, inconsistent or worth checking. The decisions stay with you.

  • It does not declare a machine compliant.
  • It does not decide which standards apply.
  • It does not write your risk assessment.
  • It does not analyse CAD geometry.
  • It does not decide whether a change is a substantial modification.

Your technical file stays yours

A technical file contains your designs, so it is handled accordingly.

  • Stored in the EU

Files are encrypted at rest in an EU-jurisdiction bucket.

  • Deleted after 30 days

Uploads are deleted automatically. You can delete them any time.

  • Never used for training

Your documents are not used to train AI models.

  • Quick check stays local

The free check reads your folder in the browser. Nothing is uploaded.

  • GDPR and KVKK

A plain privacy policy and a public list of every subprocessor.

  • Scanned before processing

Every upload is virus-scanned and checked for ZIP bombs.

Frequently asked questions

Short answers to what manufacturers ask before their first review.

What is a machinery technical file?

The technical documentation a manufacturer must compile before placing machinery on the EU market: descriptions, drawings, schematics, risk assessment, standards, test reports, instructions and the declaration. Its content is set out in Annex VII of Directive 2006/42/EC and Annex IV of Regulation (EU) 2023/1230.

Does Dossure tell me if my machine is compliant?

No. Dossure is a pre-check. It lists missing documents, inconsistencies and points to check, each with page and quote. Conformity decisions stay with the manufacturer and, where required, the notified body.

Which files can I upload?

PDF (text or scanned), Word, Excel, PowerPoint, JPG, PNG and TIFF, as a folder or ZIP. Up to 1 GB, 1,000 files and 2,400 pages per review.

Does it work with German, Italian or Turkish documents?

Yes. Documents in different languages can be mixed in one folder, including scanned pages. The report is available in English, German, French, Italian, Spanish, Polish, Dutch and Turkish.

What happens to my files?

They are stored encrypted in the EU, deleted automatically after 30 days, and never used to train AI models. You can delete them earlier at any time.

Does it check against Directive 2006/42/EC or Regulation 2023/1230?

Both. You enter the placing on the market date: before 20 January 2027 the Directive applies, from that date the Regulation.

What if the analysis fails?

If a review cannot be completed because of a technical error, the credit is returned automatically.
